Uggg... the BUGS!

I love being outside, but I hate, hate, hate BUGS! This past weekend we had a graduation/18th Birthday party for the #SupermanturnedHulk and the bugs were party crashers for sure! I bought a large supply of those little bug bands that you can put on your wrist or ankle, AND we made a few batches of homemade bug spray.

I'm much more likely to spray this stuff on myself 100 times than use the outdoor chemically stuff even once! I can not stand the way it feels on my skin, I don't like the smell and I hate the fact that I will need to shower it off before climbing into bed!

UHHHH.. I realized after the fact that the picture was taken before the labels made their way on the bottles! 

The lil bean and I found several recipes on Pinterest and at her age now I just turned her loose with making them. She did a great job and they got plenty of use! I'm including a few links here just in case you decide you want to try this for yourself. Using these links doesn't cost you anything, they are just my personal preferences and if they are used I may receive a few pennies in my piggy bank. 

Here is a link to the recipe we used, I like the smell of this one the best and it is fairly simple to remember how many drops of each oil!


I bought the cute little blue bottles on Amazon, I think you can find them in brown as well. They are glass so you have to be a little careful, but we have dropped them several times without ever breaking one.

You can also grab labels there, they have plenty to choose from. I have used these in the past and I have also just used my silhouette to cut some from vinyl. Really just depends on how much effort you want to put into it.

And in full disclosure, I am a doTerra preferred customer and am sharing the link associated with my own personal page. (I have used many different types of oils and prefer these. I signed up personally for the discount... I like to save a few pennies here and there!!) You can purchase your own set of oils for this recipe, again, this is just my preferred brand.

This beautiful collection of hues arrived in my inbox this morning (and probably many of yours). I love everything about it.. These are the colors I prefer for  Easter, not necessarily the bubble gum pinks and neon yellows!

This is the first time I haven't been with all my children for a holiday - I am not a fan of this. So today, I have taken the time to regroup a little. I wrote a few notes to people who were on my mind, had a mimosa with my mother, lounged...and PINned a lot of new things.

My Goodness! How times have changed... it has been 2 years since my last blog post and soooo much has changed!

• I took a part time (full time) job as an events coordinator, left the same job...
• Watched my kids grow up into young adults and cried a little along the way..
• Opened a brick and mortar shop - YEAH me...
• Started the journey as a single mom... not very yeah, but we are getting through

I have thought many times about starting my blog up again, and now I am just going to jump out there and do it. The same way I do every thing else... lol.

This blog will be reinvented a bit. It will still be about my crazy journey through life, but it will include a few more tips and tricks that I have found helpful in my current lifestyle. Such as DIY, Coupons, Design or redesign on a budget, Budgeting, my décor style, being a single mama, finding some peace in life...

Monday Morning dues...and Insta Recap

I feel like some Monday mornings I have to pay the dues of a great weekend! There is always laundry that needs to be done and "stuff" that needs to be coordinated...and in this house, NOBODY likes to wake up! lol...

Baseball season has started...so of course we have a broken bone on a kid and now he is sporting a lovely new Carolina blue cast!

 

My kids made fun of me for looking so "rough" one day when we were "supposed" to be having a Snow storm....I was taking advantage of the 'no need to leave the house' . Since they were so troubled, I decided it best to post it on the Internet and tag them in it....

 

Next day, I needed a touch of Spring so I wore this lovely little necklace that I bought in the cutest boutique in Ellicott City!

 

Hmmm...I am starting to notice a pattern here...

I was sporting this cute bow and Anchor earrings because the earrings are part of my spring collection coming to my website in just a few days!

 

And this...well this is one of my infamous Spinach smoothies...NOT at all what I used to put in my Red Solo cups! Yummy!

Happy Thanksgiving! I hope your day is filled with Love, Laughter, Good Food and Good People!

I have been reading posts all  month about what everyone is thankful for, and while I haven't participated in the daily "Thanks"giving, I do have plenty to be thankful for!

I am most thankful for my children, my family - my faux family, my home, my creativity, my ADD and the ability to multitask, the good and bad of every day life. The food that will fill our bellies today and everyday. My new job and all that is brings to my life, daily!
